Immersive and Unsettling Sound Design for Foreigner

Working on Foreigner meant crafting a soundscape that mirrors psychological tension, discomfort, and isolation. As the story follows a young Iranian girl struggling to assimilate in a new world, the sound design plays a crucial role in expressing her internal dissonance—where identity, belonging, and fear collide.

The goal was to create a continuous feeling of unease, keeping the viewer emotionally unsettled and closely aligned with the protagonist’s experience. Through a layered and immersive approach, the sound constantly shifts beneath the surface, reflecting her alienation and descent into psychological horror. It’s a visceral audio experience that heightens the film’s coming-of-age themes and exploration of immigrant identity.
